199 - Wow. I really love the vibe in this track. It's very musically uplifting when those huge strings come in. The percussion has a very similar flavour. This works very well. Then it drops. Bam. Huge tune. Really love this tune man. Excellent work. Big yourself up. IMO, this track really sets itself apart from the other tunes in this compo and gets my vote to win. Really original, well produced. Good mix down. The sounds are processed suitably. Very clean and dry feel to the track. The sine bass has suitable harmonics which is something that was missing from alot of the other productions. I would recommend working the strings back in at some point to give some cohesiveness to the track as an entirety. Fantastic tho. Really loved this tune.

The Storyteller by Noctuary: 195 - Very well produced.

195 - Very well produced. The reese has a very unique sound. Love the layering on it (ie sonically split between bass and grime). It's subtle but makes for some good modifications on the sounds. Reminds me of Symbiant's work. Well produced. The reverb is used well without muddying the mix. Fantastically epic. This track is up there as a potential winner in my eyes. Excellent production all around.

by : 196 - Boh. Nice tune. Feelin

196 - Boh. Nice tune. Feelin it for sure. Production on the percussion is painfull tho. Try taking this one around and listening to it on different systems. Great work with the vocals tho. The pads really fill up the sonic space. Not overstuffed or anything. Really works man. Big ups. A fav of mine for sure. Too short tho. Also way way too much compression. The sibilance is getting squashed. Your musical ideas are strong, but the production needs some work. Also try boosting the vox @ 5khz to give some definition and perceptibility to them, cause they become very difficult to understand without any freqs up there. I'm voting it up there tho, cause I think that your musical ideas are some of the strongest. This would be my top pic if the production qualities were better. Big up yaself!!

Un-S3vR by Harikiri: 173 - Perussion is too far

Submitted by decklyn on Wed, 2007-01-17 16:19.

173 - Perussion is too far back in the mix. Has a strange slightly asian flair to it. I wish the percussion was more forward. The drum programming is pretty good, but it's just not crunchy, boomy, or loud enough for the style of the track. The programming on the synths is pretty good, and the sounds, although a little "stock" are pretty good. Musically it's more sensicle to my ears than most other tracks, which is a welcome change, after listening to some tracks that don't musically make sense. Not bad. keep at it. Just hop on DOA and read about how to make your beats sound fatter and your production will be sounding great with a real original style and feel.

Offensive by Logical1: 194 - It's not a bad tune.

194 - It's not a bad tune. Fairly well constructed. Production qualities are okay. Percussion is interesting. Bass lines are cool - the layering makes for a great effect, but the sounds themselved need some more processing - they sound a little too raw, and a touch "off" or something. Need to get fit into the mix. It's pretty good.

only the good things by dj scape: 198 - Mixdown is too quiet.

Submitted by decklyn on Wed, 2007-01-17 16:17.

198 - Mixdown is too quiet. Not a bad tune. Extremely mellow. Percussion lacks umph. Nice clean amen tho. Bass is mostly just subs. Maybe could use a bit of harmonic to make it audible. Love the vox. It's a good tune man. diggin' it.

chasing butterflies by djobscure: 200-Nice intro. Production

Submitted by decklyn on Wed, 2007-01-17 16:15.

200-Nice intro. Production qualities are great. Sonically very full. The tabla really pops thru the mix. Percussion sounds great. Overall mixdown is great. Vox sound a bit off key. Great drop. Lots of dissonance in the instrumentation tho. I would change the bassline to be in key with the pad lines. Overall a great production and an enjoyable liquid tune. If the bass line was different I would have voted higher.

dark red by ruffian: 197- Lots of great sonic

Submitted by decklyn on Wed, 2007-01-17 16:17.

197- Lots of great sonic interest. Put together pretty well. Feels a little thin perhaps before the first break. Not a bad mix down. Perhaps the hats could use some work to make them fit into the mix a little bit more. It's a dnb tune. Nothing really sets it apart from the rest. Not bad tho.

Sweet Coffee Of Your Love by Kondencuotas Pienas: 166 - Alright. Cool jazzy

Submitted by decklyn on Wed, 2007-01-17 16:16.

166 - Alright. Cool jazzy feel. Not too sure I'm really feeling it. The piano part feels a little bit "digital" or something. Strange step @ 4:50. A little unstylized during the breakdown (at 4:50) or something. Drops is a little harsh @ 6 mins. Cool sampling, but the crackle that is introduced is only intermittent, and maybe seems a touch out of place. It's neat. Production qualties are pretty good.

Ray of Light - Madonna by Contayjen: 174-Percussion sounds a bit

Submitted by decklyn on Wed, 2007-01-17 16:15.

174-Percussion sounds a bit dry. Vocal work is great - Reversed reverb works well. Nice spacey pad work fills up sonic field. Cool filter sweeping on vocals - give a sense of increasing intensity. Bass line is very interesting. The actual quality of the bass is a little unpolished, but the musicality is good. Overall a pretty good remix. There is the ocassional section where the synth work is not on key with the vox. The production qualities are a little bit lacking, but the song itself is enjoyable.

Turn It Around by hydrophonic: 172 - Nice slightly

Submitted by decklyn on Wed, 2007-01-17 16:15.

172 - Nice slightly oldschool fee. lead is a touch off key but works alright with the oldschool liquid feel. A little bit repetitive perhaps. The bass is pure sub-bass. I'd add some harmonics to the sine, cause I can't hear it on my phones, which mean that the mixdown would only work on a big system. Not a bad tune. Pretty good production. Just needs some harmonics on the bass, and some EQ on the kick etc
