This tune is absolutely

This tune is absolutely superb. The only things I think need sorting out are a couple of the high-mid frequencies resonate a bit harshly, particularly when the female vocal comes in. Also ther snare could be a bit brighter. Otherwise, this is superb, musically it's my favourite so far and i wouldn't normally go for a tune like this so good work.

nice buildup of intro

nice buildup of intro elements goin on... break fits perfect when it comes in, perhaps it's a bit too motched on the eq tho. maybe it's just the snare. rolling along nicely... nice atmospheric breakdown, vox sits well there too. nice use of panning. on the drop.. ooooh i love that rinsed-out bassline! although it sounds a little to wide on the stereo image imo. not my normal fave style overall, but well done nonetheless. nice hats/cyms. perhaps a bit less rev-cymbal (esp in the second breakdown) would be better... i do love the way the melody switches up halfway thru that second breakdown, then continues thru the remainder of the track. at the end of the track, you can hear a slight click that needs edited out of the back of that pad.

percussion is nice on this,

percussion is nice on this, pad works well aswell, the vocal seems to gospel for the tune ...doesnt really fit/link in anyway.... the break sounds too processed too muvh resonance on the filter perhaps? u need a break with some sort of hi's, not keen on this drop. although i love the background noises ALOT.

Likin the intro,that voice

Likin the intro, that voice sample is good.I like the laid back vibe of this tune, drums and bass hit hard just enough to vibe too. All the backround effects are one of the highligths of this song, good work on that. Mixed and produced well, i find myself saying that alot in this compo, allmost all the tracks ive heard are at a new level then before.I have nothing bad too say about this song....Nice cool vibe that i like, sick work.

159 - In the Morning - Sweet vibe to this.  Well-named too, it has that waking up type of feeling to it.  Nice sounds and samples.  The mix seems quite balanced

The section from just after 2 mins to 2:50 doesn't quite work for me for some reason, maybe the bassline goes up high and I dont like that.  But the other main section works well and the vibe in pretty nice in general.

After 5min I found slightly excessive though it'd probably work on an album track to carry on the vibe.  It thought it lost direction from that point though I guess on this chilled style of track its not totally out of place.

kinda disappoints after the

kinda disappoints after the breakdown, did not expect bassline like that.expected it a bit warmer. nice modulation and use of effects, very nice full mix. judicious use of vocal sample. sounds like something off jungle jazz series or good looking

good job building tension

good job building tension through the intro.  I wasn't sure where it was gonna go for the first several bars.

This is more of a preference as a school of thought, but I don't think panning around your bassline is a good idea, cause you don't want only one side of your venue hearing your bass, right?  the bassline is almost gone when I listen in mono.

the tune builds beautifully.

All of your elements are coming through pretty well here, except for the kick.  There's some kind of issue there, but it's going to take some work to fix, cause a track like this won't take just any kick. Eye-wink  Anyway, it's a small issue.

So yeah, nice roller here.  It's arranged very well, which is a trend in this round of competition.  Mix wise there are some major phase issues with the track.  Most of them residing in the bass and drums, unless my ears are deceiving me.  I can definitely hear some sort of phase or flange on a lot of the snare hits, and I also suspect the same issue is causing the lack of the kick drum's presence.

Besides the phase (or if you prefer, 'stereo spread') issues, it's mixed well.  I can hear everything.

It's a nice uplifting tune.  I feel nice and mellow after listening to it, so I guess, thanks for that! Smiling

like the intro, but dont

like the intro, but dont like the snare, maybe a crisper one would work better, it sounds a bit muffled, less reverb too. the actual song has a really good structure and vibe too it, could work well with a female vocalist singing some verses over the top on the bits with the pads in the background.

nice interesting perc on

nice interesting perc on this one, the little pad/synth that comes in first is nice, second pad is really nice aswell. that vocal is very nice. first beat sounds okay, not that into that snare though really, i like the little reversed cymbal. sub is pretty nice although i expected more from the drop after hearing the intro, good tune though.

nice intro so far....good

Submitted by Royalston on Thu, 2006-10-26 00:40.

nice intro so far....good mood and percussion and synths....nice vocal sample...really nice intro.

snare is a little weird - "hollow?" try a different sample with more punch

Gets too complicated after the drop. too many elements - the intro makes you expect a chilled song...the background synths also suggest this...also the  Beats need punch and the bassline isnt clear. Add another layer to your drums, that will help...and simplify them Smiling

nice track
