218 - Straight off the bat

218 - Straight off the bat this one sounded like it was meant for a nightclub dancefloor.  Slightly cheesy but phat bass sounds and the vocals work well.  The arrangment is excellent, with stuff always going on.  Its mostly mixed well but the snare is a bit thin, and the kick is a bit thuddy.  They work well enough as is I guess for this track, but I'd like to hear them balanced a bit better.  Probably not to everyone's taste, but a good sense of 'songwriting' to this, as much as you get in a dnb remix really.  Great vibe, nice work.

LOL… after 5 seconds

LOL… after 5 seconds I though I’d hate this… and I really like it lol!  For what it is, it’s a cool tune.. people will moan about it being cheesy and jump up or whatever… good luck to you I say!  People should go out more and see what destroys a club.. not just neurostep.  Nice one!  P.s. I do think it’s a bit cheesy by the way, but I like a bit of cheese lol I think I would by this.  I’d roughen up the reeces at the end of each 16 bars if I were you though.

I like the bass in this

I like the bass in this tune, nice warped shit.  I sorry tho I don't like all the accapellas over the top, some of them work but maybe a little synth playing with the bass would roll out better on some sections to break it up a little.

as i said in a previous

as i said in a previous review im not a fan of remixes in botb although i like this one aswell but is a bit clownsteppy production is rather nice on this although the vocal seems to lose sync near on half way though when the other bird starts singin, and it gets abit repetitive beats wise.
good effort though m8!!!

Big up

this is just my taste, and

this is just my taste, and you're not losing any points for it, but the repeated vocal intro is REALLY annoying to me. Eye-wink

Mix wise, I think the vocal is too loud.

Snare is a little thin.  Maybe a volume issue, maybe an eq issue.  I'm not sure.

I can hear the kick/snare well, but the rest of the drums are totally buried in the mix.  I can only hear the ghost snare/hats when I REALLY stop and try to hear them.

Next problem, the vocal doesn't line up right in some places.  By the time missy says "I can't stand the rain" she's almost a step behind.

Besides that I don't have much to say.  The problem I have with reviewing tracks like these is that this is totally the sound of DnB that I can't personally stand for any more than 15 seconds.  That's just my taste, and it's not gonna affect your score, but I thought I'd explain why I'm not getting deeper on you, because between the style and the vocal I'm just annoyed here. Eye-wink

Definitely not getting any points for originality, but neither am I this month. Eye-wink

I'm gonna give you a 6, as I've already given a 7 to a track I thought was much better.

Hm, I didn't like the intro

Hm, I didn't like the intro to this one at all...The repeated 1/2bar phrase at the beginning honestly made me think my computer was fucking up!

The vox, like the Next Episode track are a bit quiet at times...The bass backing things up is typical of this style, but still sounds good, as do the 'rave stabs' (can't think of what else to call them!).

Production is tight, nothing to flaw there (as with most of the tracks in the compo!), but could've had a bit more variation in the basic musical idea throughout the track.

Another remix, sounds

Another remix, sounds alright. Drums seem weak though n not feeling that bass that much. It all happens too quick for me, I like some buildup and suspense. Its ok just seems a little empty and flimsy.

kind of a jump-up'y

kind of a jump-up'y commercial vibe here...vox samp is strong, BUT no FX holdin it together.  Drums lack, work on the fills.  snap on the snare needs biggin up, its too soft as if the drummer used brushes instead of stix... trax abit borin to me!!!

another straight out of the box tune, seems lyk ppl are relying to much on that 'whole track' vox samps to hold the trak together... its suppose to compliment it, the trak shud sound just as gud without it there!!!

still got a fair way to go...altho, the mixdown wasn't bad

Oh man, how did this come in last?! Laughing out loud

Well, I did say that it wouldn't be to everyone's tastes, this track is pure Marmite (you either love it or you hate it).  People are judging on style again dude, but don't sweat it.  This is a great track, obviously the vocals helped you along but you have a good ear for what makes a track.  Keep at it, this one rocked the compo imo.  drum
