this is the first one that excited me from the first 3 seconds.

Solid arrangement.  Good placements of samples and atmosphere, stabs, etc.

This is great stuff to come from this competition.

Those swing beat parts?  FUCK YEAH.

If you can't tell by all my line breaks.. I'm struggling to find something to complain about here.

Bow

ooohhh..  well there's something.  the pitched down amens sound very out of place.  they kinda screw up the atmosphere.  I'd try to layer those first so they sound more like they're yours.  maybe layer them with one pictched higher or something, it just doesn't sound right.

That's all I got though.  This is fucking dope.

I would have really liked to have heard a layered kick with more punch to it, just on top of what you've already got.  You're resonance is spot on, but it lacks that thump that it should.  This may just be a bitrate issue.  I wish this competition REQUIRED 320 kbps uploads, so that we all knew that what we were listening to was exactly what was written..  Anyway, that's not your fault.  I'm just high and ranting.

think about what I said regarding the amen.  Maybe a different break in the standard amens place.  if you disagree, don't worry about it, if you do fix it, do it soon, and then, get this sonofabitch mastered.  Not just the master file, but like, all the individual tracks of your mixdown, a pro job.  Scratch that.  don't even get it mastered.  Labels do that for you.  Just have the files ready, and start shopping the track to labels.  Talk to Barcode, for starters.  That may be shooting high, but if I were calling the shots I could see it.

I'm really not even worthy to review this track, cause I'm sitting here feeling like it's better than my dark stuff..  The mix sounded kinda fuzzy, but everything all came out clearly, there was no clashing, it all just fit like a glove, and it flowed perfectly.  I'm almost sure it's a bitrate issue, and if it isn't, I know any good mastering house would fix it.

I would buy this.  I would like to mix it in my sets, if you'll send me a 320k.  And if I don't sound like too much of a whore, I'd like to collaberate.  :bandwagon:

I listened to this three times before I decided the score.  The bottom line is I feel like this track doesn't sound like it was made by someone who posts tunes in forums, it sounds like pro shit.  I'm awed.

I don't need to break it down to categories, cause you just got my first fucking 10 bro.

164 - Another dark monster by the sound of it.  Great intro with a threatening atmospheric vibe.  Good selection of sounds and samples in this track.

It has an interesting groove and changeups and some cheeky swingbeats too, lol. Plenty going on in this one, it never stands still.  Mix is pretty good so not much to complain about there.  Nice work, one of my top 3 in this compo.

#164.  Got tough beats in this tune with a good rythym, and everything sounds well mastered.  Got a lot of sounds / pads going on in the background which keeps everything rolling.  I can't really fault anything, could imagine this being on Movin Shadow getting played at raves.  Some good shit.

i think i know who made this right off the bat. dirty reece action, good shit! nice deep sub thrown into the intro.... nice, nice... hard-stompin drums... damn, i think this one's in serious contention for the win. oh yeah, the breakdown and drop don't disappoint either. 'OVERDOSE'... yes! reminiscent of the captain kirk days. nice vox samples. unique drum arrangement on those edits... i like 'em. it's not gonna be easy for me to find fault on this one, other than the obvious mixdown and image/panning work needed - it's way too quiet overall, some mid-high hiss and a bit muddy in the mids too. love the drum change-up at 4:26, more of that particular break would be nice i guess (nitpick). my only real gripe is in the mixdown, i suppose... fix that up, and you've got a massive tune here!

obviously i know who this i by, and i dont want anyone to think theres anything suspect going on, the only reason im giving this such a score is coz it deserves it! intro is interesting, perc is sweet, and quality seems nigh on perfect. bass is nice, maybe could have been a tad heavier if u worked on it longer, which no doubt u will.synths and pads and samples are heavy. the swing section of the beatage is fat, and works exrtremely well in this typa tune. bigup steph, one of my faves from u mate

A solid track, nicely

A solid track, nicely produced. Reminds me of Ed Rush & Optical in the late 90's. I think the vocal sample could do with re eqing cos there's a bit of an anoying whistle where its resonating at about 2000hz (i think). Also the amen drums sound quite muffled like the sample used wasn't too good, compared with the other drums they sound a bit wrong (but maybe they're supposed to do that but i thought it sounded a bit wierd). Other than that it a good track, I'd like to hear it on a big system.

Dark tunage...dark intro....lovin that synth when the main beat comes in,vocal samp is tight too.Beat hits hard aswell as the bass...like the beat changing at like 2:11...this might be the darkest tune out of the bunch...mixed well, produced well, nothing bad to say about this track, this compo is a hard one too judge, what more can i say..this is another sick tune

overall the mix sounds like its lacking a little high end, but that doesnt detract from the tune. nice beat and those vocal samples are great. the change in beats is good, just enough of it not to get cliched. near the end of the tune i did start to get a bit bored, buts more of a personal thing. good work bro.

Good mood going at the start...not a lot of clarity between elementsbut that suits the grimey vibe. I love all the reeses...the vocal stab is really really done to death (by dillinja and crew) imo.

Overall the track could do with a bit of loudness but thats what the gain knob is for.

nice vibe.

Reese could do with a little more variation. nice progression with the beats. gets a bit repetitive, the reesey parts need to be broken up a bit, it loses its impact after a while
