239 - Psychotronic Warfare - Nice atmospheres, drums and vocals samples are a bit dry for the otherwise atmospheric track. Could benefit from a bit more variation in the main body of the track. The outro vibe changes a bit much, perhaps it might work introducing it earlier. Mix is alright, not much to complain about except lack of sub frequencies. dark intro, nice. dark intro, nice. Needs more of a bassline A bit more variation in the beats would be good, and maybe a melody or lick in there. I like the dark vibe you've got going here. #239 nice dark intro,Submitted by dj scape on Mon, 2007-12-03 18:12.
#239 nice dark intro, although it doesn't evolve much. like the breakdown.. and the vocal samples. sounding proper dark. not totally sure when it drops tho. dunno if its my speakers but i'm struggling to hear any sub? the bassline that comes in after 4 mins doesn't quite sound right in the context of the tune. i think it needs to be darker. or maybe just sub. the beats are nice, i like the percussion you used. the hi hats that kinda shuffle are possibly too loud. A Dark Genuis tune, sup dark. As i said before, i like how the tune just rolls along, dark as fuck. I would have loved to hear a more heavy bassline in there. This is a nice change up from all the liquid tune in the compo. Niceone Dark okay, off the bat i wouldSubmitted by hydrophonic on Tue, 2007-12-04 03:16.
okay, off the bat i would say layer another snare under that 808, with some reverb for a more polished sound, maybe another break or 3 to fatten up the drums. also, try to vary your bassline a little more, as it starts to get samey. variation doesn't have to be in the pitch of the note...even bending timbre, or some nasty fliter sweeps would add a lot here. i like the chord structure of the song, though it would benefit from some more edits without a doubt. vocal samples in a tune like this sound better when effected imo w/ things like delay, so you'd have a vast improvement right there. this tune seems like it's pretty well thought out out, though the execution could be much stronger. keep at it! The samples seem to be occasionally drowned out by the reese and more work is needed on the drums they sound a bit flat and lifeless and also a bit out of time sometimes (not sure if this is meany to be?) or it could be just that the layering doesn't go with the two sets??? not bad work with atmospherics though quite like the moodyness and darkness but overall the tune needs more work in my opinion a good effort though keep at it. Second dark one so far,Submitted by Dj Obscure on Mon, 2007-12-10 08:27.
Second dark one so far, feeling the pads mate, very eerie indeed. The drums that are coming in sound very weak, granted I'm only on phones at the mo, but the snare sounds toy like. Them sharp glitchy hats that come in work quite well, although a tad loud. Change that snare up mate, and layer a more full bodied one underneath for substance. That samples really nice man, couldn't fit more perfectly, the pad that rolls with it is nice too. The bass that is coming in sounds ok, although a little hollow. I will check this again on monitors later when I can to be sure everything I've just said about the tune wasn't bullshit haha. Niceone. not sure about the intro onSubmitted by Harikiri on Fri, 2007-12-07 10:43.
not sure about the intro on this....it definately does feel like a build-up or exciter, which is the whole point of an intro afterall....Theres no bass for most of the tune either...wtf! I dont wanna boo this, but theres lots of room for improvement...vary the droning pad... more bass with variety...U use the same vocal sample to much, maybe use smaller sections, or jus the interestin parts... |
