For some reason I didn't download this one along with all the others, was it submitted a bit later or was I just not paying attention? Anyways, this is my first listen to this track. Fuck me. I wasn't expecting the drop to be that big. Love the intro buildup; that almost japanese percussion hit sounds awesome. The beats, again, are pretty much perfect, nothing I can flaw. And that bass...dude, it's organic. The airy choir-pad sound doesn't sit with me, though...The patch is bordering on sounding a bit shite (to me), either a more techy pad (like those in Absynth or Albino?) or a less naff choir sound would've worked better. Excellent stuff, though. 221 - The standard isSubmitted by Contayjen on Sat, 2007-06-16 12:58.
221 - The standard is consistently high in this round so far, and this track is no exception. Good mix again, with solid sub and beats. Arrangement is laid out well, but I feel this track lacks a distinctive theme. Nice dark intro, like theSubmitted by dj scape on Sun, 2007-06-10 21:31.
Nice dark intro, like the high pad. The beats sound excellent real punchy and rolling. Nice minimalistic eerieSubmitted by Dj Obscure on Wed, 2007-06-20 11:23.
Nice minimalistic eerie intro, feeling how the drums come in, drums are rolling nice man, feeling the snare. Nice reversed cymbal, sounds familiar this track, cant think where ive heard it. Cant really judge the sub proper not on monitors, soz. Nice tune though, bigups. Feeling the heavy bass inSubmitted by Bluntman and Co... on Tue, 2007-06-12 14:30.
Feeling the heavy bass in this one, right when it kicks in. Love all the samples and fxs mashed in this. But after awhile the track gets alittle samey, would have liked it to change up abit, but that aside production is solid, niceone Nice beats and pad work inSubmitted by King_Louis on Sun, 2007-06-10 10:06.
Nice beats and pad work in the intro. The tune didn’t really grab me though.. it seems like it’s all competent.. I think it just isn’t my style. You can’t please everyone though so I wouldn’t worry too much about me. Nice production though! i like this one....twoSubmitted by Harikiri on Sun, 2007-06-10 01:29.
i like this one....two things tho, MORE FX!!!! and put a lil note to follow the bass, maybe distort the mids or put on a wraspy square wave over the top or sumat to give it definition. basically I cant hear it, i can only feel it...this has BIG potential tho! the very first sound of thisSubmitted by synrgy on Tue, 2007-06-19 00:20.
the very first sound of this track reminds me of a coversation I was having with my buddy Antikkz recently: There are not enough of these sounds in drum n bass today. The whole thing that got me into DnB to begin with was all these sounds that were pretty much un-tangable. You know, you listen to some stuff and it's like "oh, that's a horn" or "oh, that's a vocal" or "oh, that's a reece" or whatever, but these sounds, you hear and it's like "what the hell is that?" So what I'm saying is, fuck yes, bring back the TECH. This is a good mixer, I can tell from the get-go. Simple drums to start, but those great techy background blips and taps that can be easily mixed in and out of ANY track. This is TOTALLY something I would have played back in 2000-2002-ish, and maybe again today. Here's the problem. As I'm typing all of this I'm waiting for the track to open up and go somewhere, and then I click over to windows media player to find out it's almost DONE. That's not good man. What you essentially have written is a 5 minute intro to a non existant track. I'd take this back to the drawing board if I were you. What you have is VERY cool, but it's really only a couple minutes worth of tune, not an entire tune on it's own. There's no real bassline yet, there's no build, there's no climax, no tension. Like I said, it's a 5 minute intro. There is MASSIVE potential here, but the track as it is is not enough to consider a winner here. Great ideas, and good sounds, but it needs to go SOMEWHERE. Think of a track like a book, it's gotta have a beginning, middle, and end. I don't know what else to say, so I'll get to the point: 5 - add another movement and you may have yourself a 10, but you can't score that high with the worlds longest intro to nothing. |
