something wonderful

Submitted by crank on Sat, 2005-11-26 18:59.

this track was really a throw-away one. but than i changed annoying gator to nice organish arp and the layered break i made from old funk hits (amen & testify on snares) helped be to make this power beat at the end. and i somehow liked it.

big thanx to tetrabrot who gave me his clip i started from. i left only that tasty bass, pity i didnt make it louder due time lacking.

Nice clear production on

Nice clear production on this one, right from the beginning the sound is very clear and wide and great ambience.  Good drum work and good use of samples at the right points.  Yeah, I'm liking this one, it has Fanu-esque depth and complexity to it while still remaining chilled.  Yeah, exceptional drum work, really crisp and punchy.  Nice detailed track with lots of stuff going on...like the porno movie being filmed in the back lol.

This sounds like it could be Crank but I hope its not or that cheeky bastard could win it again.

Great pad, awesome intro.

Great pad, awesome intro. beats are fat and rolls good. bass is deep. nice FXs and everything sits nice in the mix. great structue, breakdowns work great and the drops are just as they should be the later better then the former. A great track. Very good vibe. and that wierd synth plays a wicked
melody matches the vibe perfectly.

really good break. i love those bongos. heh, i like the quote: 'something's goin to happen...something wonderful' i need that sample too. so if you're kind ebough, whoever you are, pm me about that quote. i really need it. and those fx, the 'hu-ha' vocals give this tune an awsome groove. the beat roll like crazy. maybe a bit to athmosferic to my recent tastes. i'd love a more obvious melodic line in this tune to give this a 10. so 9.5

great work.

arrangement: arrangement is good with lot of variation, perhaps too much teasing.
mixing: very clear sound.. the drums a bit too loud in relation with the rest..
bass: nice bass, the sound is perfect.. should be louder !beats: great sound and edits.

34 – Yes yes!

34 – Yes yes!  Probably joint top for me.  Really well written.  Artistically and technically.  Excellent beats: patterns, stereo and weight.  There are a couple of small bits where hits don’t seem top overlap perfectly – like at about 55 seconds – does the kick distort slightly?  Only thing that stopped it getting a 10 was the vocal: “something’s going to happen…” – wasn’t keen on that.  Get this signed if it isn’t already.   9/10

This song is all about the drums, which are great.  The subtle melodies are done well too, although I prefer a bit more up front melodies in my songs.  Also a lack of bass but what is there is done very well.  Excellent.

Good beginning, with some

Submitted by DJRiDDLeMaRK on Thu, 2005-12-01 19:12.

Good beginning, with some nice percussion to ease the energy rise from complete ambience.  Nice start on the beat.  Really steppy, with good quirks.  Really tribal, reminds me of the progressive house I love.  A little dissapointing after the breakdown.  Doesn't seem like anything changed, it almost lost energy.  The reason why I don't like that, because if you mixed this track in, and ended on the breakdown, and then the beat came in and nothing much changed, the energy would drop at the place you're playing.  I was expecting a melody or something new to come in.  The girl orgasming is so cliche.  It's been used in mega trance songs for 5 years.  Now after that breakdown the sweet little melody appears, which is awesome.  I think you should have brought that in after the first breakdown.  The new percussion which comes in after yet-another breakdown is really sick.  The breakdowns seem to be used to much, and don't exactly lead anywhere.  The "HAH" used in another breakdown is kinda loud, and doesn't seem to have much relevance.
To make this better, I would get rid of so many of the breakdowns.  I would lengthen the time between breakdowns.  Bring the melody in sooner, and use the "HAH" more often.  It's cool, and does add to the tribal feel, but I think could have really helped the track if used more out.  But the positives are good beats, nice atmosphere all around, good pad synths to contribute to that.  And when the melodies do come in they're sweet.

The breaks work well. Nice

The breaks work well. Nice bongo work. Hi Hats might be a little loud.
I think the "Ha He" around minute 2 is a little silly and detracts from the feeling of the track.
The new melody in the 2nd drop breaks up the track some, but it doesn't sound as refined as the other the synths.

Overall it has a nice quality to it & strong mastering.

intro works well, not sure

Submitted by mabus on Mon, 2005-11-28 03:13.

intro works well, not sure about some of the drum hits, sound a bit too much reverb for my ears. is that a porn sample? Laughing out loud like the structure, each part works well. lost interest a bit near the end but some good work all around.

Nice full sounding track

Submitted by glitch on Sun, 2005-12-04 18:47.

Nice full sounding track with a jam-packed stereo spectrum and rich
sounds.  Like the beats but I can't help feeling that they are just
that little too frantic.  Bass isn't hitting hard enough for my liking
and could do with tightening up, and the top end is a bit too sharp.

Use of samples is good and I like the pads swirling around in the
background but I'd lose the tribal chanting and the extended moaning
sample that crop up around the mid-point and and concentrate on the
"something's going to happen, something wonderful" sample as it's this
that defines the track for me.

Overall a decent effort, but not quite 'there' for me.

Developes nicely. Great production, as tight as fuck although there wasn't much to cram into the stereo-space you had. This track had a loverly atmosphere, but not else to it. Most importantly - the open hi-hat does not sit right on the beat, great construction of beats, dont get me wrong, but the hi-hat sounds much to live. Delightful little synthline - cheeky and uplifting. Not enough progression during the center and end of the track.

beats are intricate, and the variation after the break are cool, surreal atmosphere of sounds, about something wonderfull going to happen.  the mixing sounds good, clean and loud here on my end.  like the rhythym. Cool the melody was not very smoth to listen to sounded like the notes were going to fast towards the end.
