ReviewsThis is a really nice track.Submitted by DJ Shiver on Thu, 2006-10-26 19:25.
This is a really nice track. I can't fault production and musically I really like it. I'd personally prefer it to be a bit more subtle with the transition fromb the harder reece to piano lovliness but thats just me. Maybe the drums could take up a bit more frequency range cos, although they sound crisp, they could be stronger. Overall this is superb tho 158 - Jossi all over.Submitted by Contayjen on Sat, 2006-10-28 08:56.
158 - Jossi all over. Boring intro, too much reverb on those drums too but it kicks off well when it does. Strong on the trademark upbeat melodies as always and excellent tight punchy drums. Maybe very slight bias towards the bass end in the mix but otherwise everything seems to fit nicely. Arrangement worked okay, not much to complain about really. One of my fav tunes so far. Bass and synth or sound are hot as hell, and how it changes up ,very sick beat. Play this in a club and its a wrap. Very hype party vibe that im digging, simple and plain. Would have changed it up after 4 mins but thats really nothing to complain about. The melodie sticks in your head, was humming this song like crazy yesterday. bit much verb on the the intro kick/snare. guitar (sitar?) sounds nice when it comes in...perhaps even better if it were auto-panned a little. i also like the reece-like bassline that it alternates with, although perhaps the two don't quite fit together just right... it sounds nice going from reese to guitar, but not vice-versa (if that makes sense). maybe just a bit of rearranging here and there to help things flow a bit nicer. i do like that breakdown, they both sound real nice when used in there. could be even better with more meat on the reece. and damn, another short one... i like 'em at least 5:30 long. that sure is one weird introSubmitted by mabus on Tue, 2006-10-31 02:29.
that sure is one weird intro so the first thing I have toSubmitted by synrgy on Wed, 2006-10-25 00:13.
so the first thing I have to say is that in today's world of Drum N Bass you just can't get away with 16-32 bars of nothing but a single break.. So the intro definitely needs work. Way too much reverb on the drums as well. that sounds like a bad start, but once this kicks in with the melodies, and the bassline, and the other breaks, it's a pretty cool tune.. Awesome parts anyway, but you could stand to somehow make a smoother transition between the reecey part and the guitar-ish part.. It kinda sounds like mixing 2 records together in that way. So it's kinda cool at the same time as not working. So yeah, obviously I'm torn on that. I love the arrangement for the most part, besides what I've already said, but the mix and eq need a lot of work. The parts sound decent individually, except that as before mentioned, most of them are completely saturated in reverb. The problem is they don't feel natural when they go back and forth, it sounds kinda cookie cutter-ish. Before you let that offend you, know that I feel like I suffer from the same problem in my own tracks. The sub bass and the main drums go really well together, kudos for that. I would really reccomend some filter or high pass/low pass eq work, particularly on the reece. If you do a downward filter sweep towards the more melodic section, it'll blend better. It's about continuity I guess. Though this as per usual kinda goes under the opinion file, so take it with a grain of salt. I listened to this twice, and this is what I'll sum up with: Great parts, skipping the drum intro.. I really love it from where it breaks out and on, except for the akward transitions. GREAT work mixing the sub/drums. Lay off the reverb. Eq/Mix - 3.5 #158. Love the melody fromSubmitted by dj scape on Tue, 2006-10-24 20:58.
#158. Love the melody from the intro, nice build up to the drop. You got some good beats in the main parts of the tune as well. Sorry but I don't think the dark synth goes with the rest of the tune, and it gets a lttle repetative switching between the two themes. Nice start. Nice start. Its gets a groove going. Good balance between Kick and snare..... ...but that cuts out too abruptly into craziness - theres too many kicks after the drop. The beats also sound too programmed I think...you need to chuck a break on there to get some crunchy. Nice filtering. Pretty good production too. If the track is gonna be really really really fast then Id introduce that right at the start.... dont have that nice simple kick snare thing for 16bars or whatever - just let people know right away what theyre in for. How fast is this track 180bpm? More? not that into this, itSubmitted by Dj Obscure on Wed, 2006-11-01 04:59.
not that into this, it sounds alright but it doesnt sound like there was much effort put into it, seems a bit rushed or something, and like its missing stuff. the beats arent that heavy, the intro seems too bare. not saying its shit, just not my thing to be honest. kick drum is nice but doesntSubmitted by Golem on Tue, 2006-10-24 23:27.
kick drum is nice but doesnt punch enough for me, not keen on the snare at all sounds real.... cheap sounding, as for the the main reese that needs increasing in volume man it seems to hide in the mix, but i do love the switching between reese and melodic part of the tune but i found this tune needed more work, mainly drum and arrangement and level work . the happy hardcore vibe isSubmitted by ptah on Tue, 2006-10-24 19:36.
the happy hardcore vibe is not really my thing. nice reese though, also the section transitions are too rough, and the sections could be longer.there are abrupt stops where there is no indication whether it is the end of the tune or not. |
