ReviewsNice intro, sublime pads.Submitted by Noctuary on Mon, 2007-01-15 00:19.
Nice intro, sublime pads. Liking the drum teases. Drums: Love the snare, spot on with that. Very GLO. Kick sits nicely in the mix, too...not too loud, but still defined. Nice switch-ups, variation, n cymbal/hi-hat work (the OHHs [open hihats] sound a bit too loud tho. Bass: Acoustic bass...perfect stuff, fits the vibe of the track nicely. Quality stuff. Mix is spot on. Piano: Sounds a bit too synthesised, but the tune and vibe is there. If the piano sounded more realistic, it'd sit much better; at the moment it detracts a bit from the vibe of the track...only a minor thing tho! Breakdown: Nice and atmospheric, liking the vinyltones. F**k me, it's gone into swing jazz. Works surprisingly well, too. Liking the wooomb bassline sitting underneath this little jazz section. There is one drum fill that sounds a bit off, though...my only qualm with it. Nice switchup back to the dnb; not sure about the snare rolls though. The talent on this track is clear; production, melody, instrument selection, and that nice bit of jazz flute at the end...all work well. #166 Takes me back, bukem kinda intro but your own style. Crispy beats, and nice edits too. Rolling. Bassline is good as well - whole tune has got wicked production. I'm such a big fan ofSubmitted by Harikiri on Tue, 2007-01-16 03:37.
I'm such a big fan of ambience, captured v.well here! again, great intro and its complimented by a very cool drop, something that I think is rare...lol the way that things come in slowly in teases, really cool... nice throughout, the pitchbend on the bass is cool, makes it very unique. I love the break, I myself have tried to do a jazz swing break, but with little success, lol! shouldn't have rushed from the break back into the main beat tho...I like this alot, would really like to do a track with you!!! 166 - That first thing thatSubmitted by Contayjen on Thu, 2007-01-18 21:19.
166 - That first thing that strikes me about this tune is that the hats are too crisp, but the vibe is smooth and I'm a fan of the standup bass. Lovely pads and atmospheres too, nice slow building over time. The jazz-club section in the middle made me check to see if this wasn't another tune but after a few listens it seems like an interesting if slightly novel touch. Then it slides seemlessly back into the faster groove. Ooh nice chilling intro,Submitted by Dj Obscure on Tue, 2007-01-23 11:39.
Ooh nice chilling intro, really feeling the vibe, its almost calibresque. That first beat/perc could be a bit fatter quality i think though. Pad and synths are nice though defo man, loving them. Subbage is nice,I feel you could have added more though myself, maybe a nice catchy reese/lead. I love the jazziness in the breakdown by the way, rhodes are schweeet. bigups whoever did this its rather nice. I like the way theSubmitted by ruffian on Mon, 2007-01-15 20:57.
I like the way the intro-drums sound over the organ/pad. Nice and crisp, production sounds like it's gonna be tight on this one... yeah, definitely nice synthwork, no mudding of freqs at all. Not really my style, this one is more chill and laid-back sounding. Mixdown sounds real nice thru my phones! Nice punchy drums, crisp wide hats, everything filling it's own freq-space nicely. OOOH nice crackling distortion effect at 4:08 in the breakdown. Yeah this shit sounds pro-produced imo, although like I said, not my style. I don't like the reggae-like off beat break after the breakdown, but that's just me. To me the track loses alot of groove because of it. Relaxing intro....niceSubmitted by Bluntman and Co... on Wed, 2007-01-17 09:51.
Relaxing intro....nice smooth bassline...nice keys and pads....a jazzy tune...another song u would hear on Dj flights show (one of my fav djs) if u know who she is....Beat goes nice with everything..not to in your face but just right for the track....like how you bring in the jazz beat in the middle of the track....the mixdown is superb...that flute is nice...this is a nice and relaxing jazzy tune..nice mix up from the rest of the tracks. Love these kind of mellow ambient jazzy tunes. Great bassline and nice soundscapes. 166 - Alright. Cool jazzySubmitted by decklyn on Wed, 2007-01-17 16:16.
166 - Alright. Cool jazzy feel. Not too sure I'm really feeling it. The piano part feels a little bit "digital" or something. Strange step @ 4:50. A little unstylized during the breakdown (at 4:50) or something. Drops is a little harsh @ 6 mins. Cool sampling, but the crackle that is introduced is only intermittent, and maybe seems a touch out of place. It's neat. Production qualties are pretty good. ok, i think i see where thisSubmitted by hydrophonic on Tue, 2007-01-16 03:55.
ok, i think i see where this is heading. a nice type of "intelligent" vibe here, pretty nice. i thought that break intro'd pretty nice, but when it dropped i was waiting for another break to thicken up the sound a bit. just the one processed break sounds a little old-school, like progression-sessions type stuff...like i'm waiting for mc conrad to drop, haha. no seriously, well done with the atmos elements and the little embellishments, like that little riff at 2:04. clearly some attention paid to detail on the composition end of the things. the break becomes a bit samey imo, and the track doesn't seem to carry the punch that modern tracks seem to have, like you're losing headroom in the mix somewhere, maybe w/ the bass frequencies. from a stylistic perspective i have to give you props, i haven't heard a tune like this ever...it went from 4/4 to swingstep, though the swingstep truly is swingstep, in the jazz sense of the word, haha. the fill at 5:36 is quantized in 4 even though the prevailing break is in 3, which makes for a little dischord. i thought the swing step was an interesting break if a bit overwelcome. the tune outros fair enough, although attention to the breaks and especially the mix could make this tune much better. this one was a littleSubmitted by open source on Sun, 2007-01-14 18:27.
