ViralEssence - 'Nasty Intentions' Remix Competition Okay guys, here we all are again. Are we all ready for round two? We have stepped it up a gear and we a great prize for the best track...hopefully the best 2 tracks. The compo will be a bit different to the last one. Read on.
Rules:
Quite simply, make the best remix you can using just the vocal from the track. We wont be judging on anything specific. Originality, production values and enjoyability will all be taken into consideration. There are no musical limits except where specified in the rules.
Prize(s):
- The winner (and the runner up, if there are enough suitable entries) will recieve a copy of their tracks on 12" vinyl. It will be mastered for vinyl by the cutting house before being cut, however due to the nature of vinyl you should be aware of a few things:
- all bass frequencies must be in mono (this will be done during the mastering process but you
- the track cannot be more than 8 mins in length (7 is more ideal)
- You must be prepared to upload a 24-bit master for the cutting house or post a CD if you win (otherwise the prize is kind of useless)
- Extra copies of the vinyl will be available for those who want one. (It works out less for extra vinyl so the more copies, the cheaper it will be). After results are announced, let me know if you'd like an additional copy cut if you want one.
Entry procedure:
- To enter the competition you must upload your track to BotB. This means you must be registered on BotB. After the competition gets going you will be able to upload your track to this thread (you must be logged in to do so)
- Collaborations are acceptable, but must be uploaded by only one prodyucer, who will receive the prize if you win.
- You are permitted only ONE entry per producer or collaboration so make it a good one.
- Contayjen and Essence will judge the tracks together after the entry stage closes.
- You have 10 weeks to enter, making the closing date 18th December.
- We will operate a 2-week extra-time stage should anyone be close to finishing but not quite. A few days before the closing date will we ask if anyone needs an extension.
- While the normal BotB rules are that you should upload anonymously, you may choose to do this or not via the tags on your mp3. It will not effect the validity of your entry. When the judging is complete, your track details will then be made known public.
Restrictions & Legal:
- There are no restrictions regarding genre or sub-genre (although the vocal is best paced for dnb as supplied)
- You may upload your track elsewhere if you like but you will be judged only on your entry via the previously described method. If you fail to upload, or choose not to, you will not qualify. PLEASE upload if you take the time to do a decent remix.
- The acapella remains under the copyright of ViralEssence. You are permitted to use it for remixing purposes only. You may not redistribute it. You may offer your track for download freely but no commercal arrangements may be entered into without our consultation and permission. Basically that means if you get it signed then you must clear it with us first but otherwise you can have fun doing whatever you want without worrying about it.

- The vocals are in two .wav files. The main vocal is in mono and the backing vocals are stereo with some slight high pass filtering but otherwise the vocals are pretty much clean. If you layer the two files they will fit together perfectly.
- They are at 170bpm and in the key of G. You are encouraged to chop, rearrange and manipulate them as much as you like.
